The Kramer Scholarship

The Kramer Scholarships were established by the National Docent Symposium Council to honour Carole Kramer, former Council member, advisor and co-editor of the NDSC Docent Handbook, and her husband, Eugene L. Kramer, legal counsel to the Council. Both value docent education and interaction, and worked for many years on behalf of the NDSC to further its work in these areas.

The NDSC awarded three Kramer Scholarships, in the form of a waiver of the registration fee, to attend the National Docent Symposium in Boston, September 29 to October 1, 2005. In addition, awardees received complimentary copies of the NDSC Docent Handbook, a valuable resource for all docents.

The Council hopes to broaden the number and scope of museums attending the symposium in its belief that docents meeting together can benefit from the educational programs and exchange of ideas offered at NDSC symposia. Only volunteer docents are eligible for these scholarships.

Three Kramer Scholarships were awarded for volunteer docents to attend the National Docent Symposium in Phoenix in 2007. To obtain a Kramer scholarship application please click here.

Volunteer docents who work in Historic Houses may also be eligible for a similar scholarship that will be awarded through the Keepers Preservation Education Fund. Two of these were awarded for volunteer docents to attend the National Docent Symposium in Phoenix in 2007. To obtain this application, please click here.
