A kaleidoscope was chosen as the symbol for the 1987 National Docent Symposium sponsored by the Toledo Museum of Art. The kaleidoscope pin was introduced at the 1991 symposium.
Like the multi-colored pieces of glass in a kaleidoscope, docents from art museums, natural history and science museums, botanical gardens, children's museums, history museums and historical sites come together at the National Docent Symposia. |
By listening, sharing with, and reaching out to one another, participating docents form new patterns of leadership, learning, and teaching.
