A Special National Docent Symposium Project to Benefit All Docents

The National Docent Symposium Council has published The Docent Handbook. This was available for the first time at the San Antonio Symposium.

The The Docent Handbook is a practical guide written by Docents for Docents at all levels of expertise and is applicable to every type of institution.

This publication addresses current concerns and material pertinent to issues now being explored in museums.

The topics discussed will aid new docents and guides in meeting visitors, developing themes, and knowing how to ask the right questions. Experienced docents will find the The Docent Handbook a convenient tool in approaching sensitive issues and for training in observation-based touring.
